APES HR - Volunteer & Student Application Form

Thank you for your interest in supporting the Association of Protecting Exotic Species (APES) CIC. This form collects the information we need to assess your suitability for a volunteer role or a structured student placement and to match you to opportunities that fit your skills, interests, availability, and learning objectives.

Who can apply

Volunteers: Generally age 18+. Under-18s may be considered for supervised youth programmes where available.
Student placements: Typically age 16+ and enrolled with an education provider (school, college, or university). Please have your course/placement coordinator details to hand.

What to expect

Working around exotic species is rewarding and safety-critical. Roles may include:

Animal care support
Enclosure/habitat maintenance
Biosecurity tasks
Education and outreach
Administrative/data entry support
Research assistance

Many activities are hands-on, can be physically demanding, and require adherence to welfare, biosecurity, and health & safety protocols. Full briefing and appropriate PPE are provided.

For students: course details, placement aims, preferred dates, and supervisor contact
Two referees (not family members); some roles may require a DBS check
