This is the Bryant Animal Shelter's Foster Home registration form. Fostering a shelter pet in your home is a rewarding and fun experience! But, submitting this form does not guarantee that a shelter animal will be placed in your home.
Fosterers are needed on a sporadic basis. We never know when we will need foster families, so we communicate mainly through email, so please enter an email address that is checked often.
Thank you for registering to be a fosterer. We will reach out to you when fosters are needed.

No Guarantee: Please read, and acknowledge the following: I understand that although the Bryant Animal Control & Adoption Center (herein referred to as ‘the shelter’) has, to the best of its ability, assessed the temperament and health of the animal presented for foster care, there is no guarantee to the sex, age, disposition, behavior or health of the animal that I am taking into foster and I agree to release the shelter, City of Bryant, and all of its employees, volunteers and designees from any and all liability from any loss, injury or damages that I or my family should incur by fostering a pet.

Care of Foster Pet: I understand that I am expected to treat this animal with kindness and compassion and that I am responsible for the actions of the animal as if it were my own during the program dates. The pet is to wear a collar with ID tags provided by the shelter at all times during its stay, and when outside the animal is to be on a leash or lead, or inside of an enclosure which prevents its escape. If the animal escapes, becomes lost or is stolen while in my care, I am to contact the shelter immediately via the emergency number provided.
| * |
Behavior or Health Questions: If there is a behavior or health problem, I am to call the shelter at the number provided to alert them of the situation. I am aware and accept that if I take the animal to a veterinarian without prior approval of the shelter staff, I am responsible for any and all costs incurred.
| * |
Veterinary Care: I understand that if I take the animal to a veterinarian, I must have any and all procedures or treatment approved by the shelter. I do not have authority to make any decisions regarding veterinary procedures or treatment.
| * |
Medicating Foster Pets: Fosterers are not to administer any medications or provide any medical treatment to a foster pet that has not been authorized by a veterinary professional or the shelter.
| * |
Mixing Foster Pet Groups: Fosterers are advised not to foster pets from different shelters or rescue organizations while fostering a pet for Bryant Animal Control & Adoption Center. This is not intended to dissuade you from fostering from other organizations, but to reduce the chances of transmitting illness or disease from one organization to another. Animals that move in/out of their home, to life as a stray, to a shelter, then into unfamiliar surroundings (typically within a very short timeframe) experience stress and are more likely to become ill. It can also have the unintended consequence of moving an isolated illness from one shelter to the next. This can be disastrous for another shelter or organization's pet population.
| * |
Transfer of Custody: I further understand that I am not to “give away” or transfer custody of the animal in foster care to a third party, other shelter or rescue organization without the permission of the shelter staff prior to the transfer. I understand that calling and leaving a message with the shelter after hours does not constitute prior approval. If I decide to keep the fostered pet as a permanent adoption, I understand that I must notify the shelter by calling 501-943-0489 and leaving a message on the voice mail to that affect and that I must pay the appropriate adoption fees during the “return period” by cash, check or credit card. Returning Foster Pet Early: If you have an unforeseen emergency or other event which makes it impossible for you to keep the fostered pet for the entire program dates, please call the shelter at the emergency number provided and we will make arrangements to have the animal returned.
| * |
Removal from Approved Foster Home List: Failure to follow the directions of any shelter staff member, or failing to comply with the directions contained in this agreement, or providing false or misleading information to shelter staff, can be cause for removal of the approved foster home list, and removal of shelter pet(s) in your care.
| * |
Fundraising: Foster cannot self fundraise on any platform. If a fundraiser is necessary it must be initiated by the shelter and all funds must be contributed by individuals to the shelters official fundraiser. No donation may be taken b the foster personally.
| * |
QUARANTINE: All foster pets should be quarantined from other animals in the household for at least 24 hours after arrival (and it is best to keep quarantined for 7 days.) Fosterers should watch for any signs of illness during this quarantine period, such as: yellow or bloody diarrhea (some diarrhea due to stress or change in food is normal, but should stop after 24 hours, if yellow or bloody contact us immediately) vomiting, lethargy, refusal to eat/drink, and other signs of illness.

EMERGENCIES: In case of an emergency, if it is during the animal control office's regular business hours Mon - Fri from 8a - 5p; call 501-943-0489 to speak to an staff member. If AFTER HOURS, or anytime the office is closed (such as holidays) call 501-943-0943, and press 1, this will connect you with our dispatch center who will reach a the officer on-call.

Release of Liability: I hereby knowingly, voluntarily and willingly release any and all possible claims I, my heirs, assigns, and/or agents may have as a result of my acceptance of this animal into my program. By accepting this animal, I agree to hold harmless The City of Bryant, Arkansas, its agents, officers, employees, and volunteers free from any damage or injury of any kind whatsoever, or however described or delineated, in both law and equity.
