The Humane Society & SPCA of Hancock County, Ohio invites applications for a full time (or part time) Veterinarian. Candidates
must be licensed in veterinarian medicine in the State of Ohio.
The candidate will lead the organization's efforts to provide high-quality medical care to shelter animals, and will include surgical
care (spay/neuter) to all animals served by the organization as well as animals from the public. The accepted candidate will supervise
employees in processes and procedures to provide the highest quality medical care possible to pets served through The Humane Society & SPCA
of Hancock County in a humane and professional manner. The accepted candidate will provide oversight andmentorship to a very small medical
staff.
Hiring Qualifications
Earned Doctor Of Veterinary Medicine (DVM, VMD) from an accredited veterinary college.
Currently licensed in the state of Ohio to practice veterinary medicine or ability to obtain license upon hire.
Qualified and eligible to obtain DEA license.
Valid driver's license in good standing.

Maintain professional liability insurance at levels sufficient to meet minimum requirements recommended by the American Veterinary Medical Association.
Participate in and provide proof of continuing education requirements on an annual basis pursuant to the State of Ohio license to practice veterinary medicine.
Adhere to applicable state and federal laws governing the practice of veterinary medicine.
Adhere to OSHA compliance policies & procedures.
Maintain strict confidentiality on client, patient and donor information.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred experience and training in shelter medicine.
An understanding and appreciation for the purpose of shelter medicine.
Knowledge of federal and state animal health and animal laws and regulations.
Physical Requirements
Candidate must have the ability to exert moderate but not constant physical effort,
typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, and
lifting. Carrying objects and animals of various weights.
Candidate must have the ability to stand or sit to perform surgery for 5-8 hours at a time.
Candidate must have the ability to withstand being regularly exposed to live animals, strong odors, cleaning chemicals and a noisy environment.
Candidate must have the ability to physically handle animals that may be exhibiting negative or aggressive behaviors.
