Thank you for choosing adoption and considering a shelter pet as part of your family. At Darlington County Humane Society, we want the adoption process to be welcoming, straightforward, and focused on helping pets find loving homes.

Ready to meet your perfect match?

You do not need to complete an adoption application before visiting the shelter or meeting our available animals. We encourage you to visit in person, meet the pets you're interested in, and talk with our team.

An adoption application is required before an adoption can be finalized and an animal can go home.

No application is required to visit. Come by during our open hours to meet our available pets.
We do not place holds on available animals. Adoptions are first come, first served for approved adopters who visit the shelter in person.
Submitting an application does not reserve or guarantee a specific animal.
When you're ready to adopt, please complete the application as fully and honestly as possible so our team can finalize your adoption.

Our goal isn't to create barriers to adoption. We're here to answer questions, provide information about our animals, and help you find a pet that fits your home and lifestyle.
