Safe Release Site Questionnaire

Thank you for your interest in the possibility of becoming a release site for rehabilitated wild hedgehogs. Please could you complete and return this questionnaire, so that we can ascertain whether your garden/land would be a suitable place for releasing healthy hedgehogs. Please answer all the questions below;
1. Is your garden completely enclosed and secure (i.e. fencing with concrete bases & gates), or with areas of open boundaries (i.e. hedging or gaps in fences)? *
2. Is there a pond in your garden? Does it have steep or sloping sides? Does it have an escape ramp? *
3. Do you or your close neighbors have dogs? What breed are they? (i.e. terrier, retriever, etc.) *
4. Please describe your garden - e.g. size, does it have grassy areas, hedges, patio, shrubs, gravel, dense ground cover/foliage, untidy/unmanaged areas, trees etc… *
5. Do you (or your neighbors, if known) use slug pellets, weed killers, pesticides, garden netting, or strimmers? *
6. Do you use bonfires to get rid of garden waste? Do you have a compost heap which you actively turn? *

8. Do you put food out for hedgehogs at present? Are you willing to to put food out nightly for any released hedgehogs? This can be a cheap and simple feeding station using an upturned under-bed storage box for example, and providing cat biscuits and water, or a manufactured hedgehog mix *
9. Do you have any hedgehog houses/boxes in your garden? Are you willing to provide this? *
10. Please describe the roads/area where you live - is it a housing estate, rural, busy frequent traffic, or quiet roads with intermittent fast traffic? *
11. Please explain why you would like to be a release site for wild hedgehogs.. *
