Adoption Contract - Under 2lbs Kitten

Your are adopting at least one kitten that is UNDER 2lbs.

Here are some things we HIGHLY recommend you do because under 2lbs kittens are VERY fragile

Weigh Daily (kittens weights can drop drastically weigh in grams if possible), Kittens should gain 10 grams a day

Keep an eye on poop! Watery poop could make a kitten dehydrated.

Kittens this young should be on probotics to help their digestion.
You can order some on Amazon (powder to sprinkle on food is best)

Research google/youtube on how to check a cat if is dehydrated or not. They may need to go to the vet to get fluids.

Sudden food changes can shock a kitten's system, if you need to change it do it slow over a course of a week.
Start at mixing 25% then 50% 75% and be fully switched over on day 7.

Wet food helps with hydration and can mix with a little bit of water. Only use Kitten food until a year old.

Keep an eye on yucky eyes & Sneezing. They will need URI medication asap!

Please read each statement below:

1. Ownership and Responsibility
I certify that I have the consent of all members of my household to adopt this cat. Effective upon execution of this Agreement, I accept full legal and financial responsibility for the care and welfare of the adopted cat. I understand that adopting a pet is a lifelong commitment, and I intend to provide a safe, stable, and loving home for the remainder of the cat's natural life. If my living situation, financial circumstances, or personal circumstances change, I agree to make every reasonable effort to continue providing appropriate care or to work with The Furry Paws Foster Inn to identify a responsible alternative placement.

2. Standard of Care
I agree that the cat will be kept primarily as an indoor companion animal and provided with a clean, safe, and sanitary home, fresh food and water daily, appropriate litter boxes, enrichment, and routine veterinary care.

3. Humane Treatment and Declawing
I agree to treat this cat humanely at all times and will never intentionally strike, abuse, neglect, or otherwise mistreat the cat, nor allow another person to do so. I further agree that this cat will not be declawed by any method, including tendonectomy, onychectomy, or similar procedures, except where medically necessary as determined by a licensed veterinarian. I understand that unauthorized declawing may constitute a breach of this Agreement and may subject me to legal remedies available under applicable law.

4. Veterinary Care
I agree to provide routine preventative veterinary care, vaccinations, and prompt medical treatment for illness or injury throughout the cat's lifetime. I understand that if the kitten has not yet received a rabies vaccination because of age or timing of spay/neuter surgery, it is my responsibility to obtain the vaccine when appropriate and provide proof of vaccination to The Furry Paws Foster Inn.
I understand that decisions regarding humane euthanasia should be made in consultation with a licensed veterinarian and only when medically appropriate.

5. Parasite Treatment
I understand that my cat has received one or more broad-spectrum deworming treatments as documented in the medical records provided. However, no deworming medication treats every possible parasite. Should signs of illness or parasites develop after adoption, I agree to seek veterinary evaluation at my own expense.

6. Transfer of Ownership
I agree that this cat will not be sold, used for commercial purposes, abandoned, or transferred for any illegal purpose. If I am ever unable to keep the cat, I agree to contact The Furry Paws Foster Inn before surrendering the cat to another rescue, shelter, animal control agency, or private individual. The Furry Paws Foster Inn will make reasonable efforts to assist in finding an appropriate placement and, when space and resources allow, may accept the cat back into its program. If I wish to transfer ownership to another individual, I agree to notify The Furry Paws Foster Inn so that we may assist in ensuring the cat is placed in a safe and responsible home.

7. Behavioral Concerns
I understand that behavioral issues may arise as the cat adjusts to a new environment. Should significant behavioral concerns develop, I agree to contact The Furry Paws Foster Inn before considering surrendering the cat and will make reasonable efforts to work with my veterinarian and/or a qualified feline behavior professional to address the issue. I acknowledge that kittens adopted without another compatible feline companion may be at increased risk of developing behavioral concerns commonly associated with single kitten syndrome.

8. Animal Welfare
If The Furry Paws Foster Inn has reasonable cause to believe that the cat is being abused, neglected, abandoned, or maintained in violation of applicable animal welfare laws, I understand that the organization may pursue any remedies available under this Agreement or applicable law to protect the welfare of the animal.

9. Future Placement Assistance
I agree that I will not surrender the cat to a municipal shelter or animal control agency without first contacting The Furry Paws Foster Inn. If circumstances require me to rehome the cat, I will first provide The Furry Paws Foster Inn the opportunity to assist with placement.

10. Adoption Fee
I understand that my adoption fee helps offset the medical care and expenses incurred by The Furry Paws Foster Inn and supports future rescue efforts. Adoption fees are non-refundable after seven (7) days following adoption. If the cat is not a suitable match for my household, I agree to contact The Furry Paws Foster Inn to discuss available options before making other arrangements.

11. Spay/Neuter Requirement
If my kitten has not yet been spayed or neutered at the time of adoption, I agree to have the procedure completed by the deadline established by The Furry Paws Foster Inn. If the procedure is to be performed through The Furry Paws Foster Inn's veterinary program, I agree to return the kitten for the scheduled appointment. If I choose to have the procedure performed by my own veterinarian, I understand that it will be at my own expense unless otherwise agreed in writing. I agree to provide documentation of the spay/neuter surgery and rabies vaccination (if age appropriate) within the required timeframe. Failure to comply with this requirement may constitute a breach of this Agreement.

12. Post-Adoption Veterinary Examination
I agree to have my cat examined by a licensed veterinarian within thirty (30) days of adoption, or within thirty (30) days following spay/neuter if the procedure occurs after adoption.

13. Lost Pet Notification
If the adopted cat becomes lost or missing, I agree to promptly notify the microchip company and make reasonable efforts to notify The Furry Paws Foster Inn so that additional recovery resources may be provided.

14. Follow-Up
I understand that The Furry Paws Foster Inn may contact me periodically after adoption to check on the cat's adjustment and welfare. I agree to reasonably cooperate with these follow-up communications.

15. Transition Period
I acknowledge that I have received information regarding the recommended shutdown/integration protocol for newly adopted cats. I understand that following these recommendations will help my cat successfully adjust to its new home and reduce unnecessary stress during the transition period.

16. Enforcement
I understand that this Agreement is intended to protect the welfare of the adopted cat. If I materially violate the terms of this Agreement, The Furry Paws Foster Inn reserves the right to pursue any remedies available under this Agreement and applicable law.
