Foster Application


Agreement for Foster Parents This Agreement ("Agreement") is between signed below ("Foster Parent”) and Humane Society of the Ozarks ("HSO”), both referred to as the “Parties.”
1. Release: Foster Parent waives and releases HSO from any liability related to any accident or mishap, including being bitten by an animal or otherwise while fostering any HSO animals.
2. Assumption of Risk: Foster Parent acknowledges the risks associated with fostering a pet and risks associated with transporting pets and assumes all risk of any car accident or accident at home which may occur while fostering.
3. Indemnification: Foster Parent agrees to indemnify HSO for any losses or expenses arising from claims while fostering an HSO animal.
4. Covenant Not to Sue: Foster Parent hereby agrees not to file suit or initiate any legal proceedings against HSO including any judicial, arbitration, administrative or other proceedings, with respect to any claims or cause of action relating in any manner while fostering an HSO animal.
5. Liability: If Foster Parent is involved in a car accident while driving to or from an HSO event or working with HSO or in transporting pets, Foster Parent agrees to assume all liability and to pay any damages which may occur.
6. Pictures and Social Media: Foster Parent agrees to allow pictures of Foster Parent while fostering for posting on social media, and promotional materials for without being paid any remuneration.
7. Governing Law: This Agreement is governed by Arkansas law and approved by HSO’s attorney. This Agreement is the entire agreement between the parties.

Volunteer states that they have read this Agreement and fully understands and accepts its terms and condition in exchange for free pet care (i.e. we cover the medical costs for the fostered animal, boarding costs for the fostered animal, daycare costs for the fostered animal, etc).


You must understand that:
1. Animals are different from human beings in their responses to human actions.
2. The actions of animals can be unpredictable.
3. Animals should be closely supervised when they are with children.
4. An animal's behavior may change after the animal leaves the shelter.
5. The Humane Society makes no claims as to the temperament, health, or mental disposition of any animal put up for foster.


Under penalty of law I swear/affirm that these answers are true and correct to the best of my knowledge. By typing my name below, I certify that all above information will be found true and any misrepresentation of any facts on my behalf may result in denial of foster. I acknowledge & understand completely that all pets up for foster are the sole property of the Humane Society of the Ozarks. I understand that filling out this application does not guarantee me a pet. I understand the placement of the animals is at the discretion of the Humane Society of the Ozarks, I authorize investigation of all statements I have provided on this application. I also understand an authorized representative of the Humane Society of the Ozarks may contact me in the future to follow up on the success of this foster. Your email address on file may be added to our marketing campaigns. If you wish to opt out at any time, you may do so by emailing us and letting us know.
