Section 2 - Foster Availability

Section 6 - Agreement
I agree to act as temporary foster home for Animal Empowerment League (herein known as AEL). I agree to abide by the following conditions whenever fostering any animals for AEL. [Please check each item once read] *	1. All animals must have an intake exam performed by an approved AEL representative within their stray hold. 2. AEL foster animals may only be permitted to attend a boarding facility or a dog park with approval from an approved AEL representative. 3. All AEL fosters must comply with local leash laws. 4. All medical treatments (including flea & tick) must be approved through an AEL representative. Most medical treatments are provided to the animal at no cost to the foster. 5. Approved fosters are never required to purchase supplies for their foster animals. They may do so, upon their own will, without expectation of reimbursement from AEL. 6. I understand that the foster animal is 'property' of AEL and I agree to turn the animal over to AEL immediately upon request. 7. I agree to coordinate with AEL for exams, vaccinations, weight checks, or other reason deemed necessary by AEL at a mutually agreed upon date and/or time. 8. I agree to contact AEL IMMEDIATELY in the unlikely event that my foster animal goes missing. 9. I agree that AEL representatives may enter my home to assist with foster animal care and/or to provide supplies, resources, or education to me in regards to fostering. 10. I agree to keep my foster animal within my possession. I will not transfer the foster animal to another home for a break or out of town day-trip, unless otherwise approved by AEL. 11. If I feel overwhelmed, I agree to contact an AEL representative IMMEDIATELY so that the animal is cared for appropriately and that my emotional well-being is restored. I understand that AEL will work cooperatively with me and that taking breaks from fostering is acceptable and sometime necessary. 12. Any animal(s) fostered by me will be fed, watered, and exercised appropriately. I also agree to abide by any instructions given by AEL regarding the feeding of specific brands or types of supplemental food and/or nutritional supplements to my foster animals. 13. I agree to transport any foster animal(s) in an enclosed vehicle only and that they will be securely transferred as to reduce the risk of accidental escape, bodily harm, or vehicular collisions. 14. I understand that AEL has no facility to hold stray animals and that the stray hold will take place in my home. AEL cannot be held responsible for any unforeseen health problem that may develop while the animal(s) are in my care. 15. I understand that there is an inherent risk of disease transmission, parasite transmission, and bodily injury or death to myself and/or my human and animal household members. I waive AEL of any liability in regards to these risks. 16. I understand that best practice is to keep the foster animal separate from my resident animals during their stray hold and to conduct slow introductions for successful integration. I understand that if I choose to allow my foster animal(s) and my own pet(s) to have access to each other, I do so at my own risk, and will not hold AEL liable for any illness or injury that may occur to my own pet(s). 17. I agree to not mix any of my foster animals or animals from more than one litter unless approved by AEL. 18. I understand the possibility of my children or others being bitten, scratched, or contracting disease does exist. I agree to be responsible for my children and anyone else handling any animal(s) fostered by me in a safe and hygienic manner, and will not hold AEL responsible for any injuries that may result from my failure to do so. I AGREE TO NOTIFY AN AEL REPRESENTATIVE IMMEDIATELY OF ANY BITES THAT BREAK THE SKIN that occur to any person or animal while any foster animal is in my care. 19. Any animal fostered by me is to be adopted to a permanent home only under the supervision of AEL, to an adopter approved by AEL, even if the adopter is me or a member of my household. I understand that if I find a suitable home for any animal that I am fostering, all of the above conditions must apply, and that the adopter must pay the adoption fee. 20. I understand that AEL cannot and does not make any representations or warranties, either expressed or implied concerning the temperament, habits, health, pedigree, disposition, age, sex or background of this animal and that I have no right to a reimbursement of medical, adoption or other professional fees. Furthermore, I understand that the animal’s future reactions to me, my family or any other person are completely unpredictable because animals, like people, have their own personalities. 21. In consideration of receiving any AEL foster animal, I, as a foster caregiver, hereby release AEL, its officers, agents and employees from all claims of injury or damage that a fostered dog/cat/other may cause me or my property. I agree to hold harmless, defend and indemnify AEL, it’s officers, contract veterinarians, agents and employees from any and all claims of liability to other persons for injuries or damage arising out of or in connection with services of this program or caused to them or their property by the animal(s) I am fostering through AEL.
