General Questions

Foster Agreement

Select Yes to acknowledge and agree to each statement.

1. TRHRP will not be responsible for expenses or damages incurred to my home, people, property, or animals that come into contact with the foster animal.
*
2. TRHRP will provide any known medical or behavioral history, but previously unknown illnesses and behaviors may appear at any time. Foster animals may have or contract illnesses contagious to other pets or household members. Animals, particularly pregnant or nursing mothers and kittens or puppies, may be unvaccinated. I accept this risk and responsibility and will comply with recommendations from TRHRP and veterinary or behavioral staff.
*
3. Foster parents are responsible for the health and safety of animals in their care. The animal may need medical care, medication, behavioral assessment, or training. I agree to comply with medical and behavioral recommendations, including appointments, treatment plans, and working with a trainer.
*
4. TRHRP will cover medical expenses through approved veterinarians and in pre-approved emergency situations. If I use my own veterinarian or seek care without first consulting TRHRP, I am responsible for the cost.
*
5. With pre-approval, TRHRP will reimburse foster-family expenses. Receipts must be submitted within 30 days after the foster placement ends to qualify for reimbursement.
*
6. TRHRP will not cover veterinary expenses caused by foster-parent negligence.
*
7. Foster parents will remain in weekly contact with TRHRP.
*
8. Foster parents will immediately inform TRHRP of concerning symptoms, including not eating, lethargy, upper respiratory symptoms, bowel changes, injury, or any appearance of being unwell, and will follow TRHRP and veterinary instructions.
*
9. Foster cats must remain indoors at all times. Foster dogs must be supervised outside, kept on a leash or in a fenced area, and secured during transportation.
*
10. TRHRP encourages families to advertise available animals to friends, family, and social networks. Any adopter must still apply, receive TRHRP approval, and pay TRHRP adoption fees before adoption, even when known to the foster family.
*
11. If a foster parent adopts a foster animal, they must sign an adoption contract and assume full responsibility for ongoing routine, emergency, and pre-existing-condition veterinary care beginning on the adoption date.
*
12. If TRHRP determines the animal is ready for adoption and the foster parent does not wish to adopt, the foster parent will fully participate in the adoption process, including bringing the animal for interactions, providing behavioral and medical information, and returning the animal to TRHRP when requested.
