City of Gillette Urban Chicken Coop Application

Submission of this application is not a guarantee of approval. The City Animal Control Division, in accordance with City Ordinances, are required to inspect the property to ensure your application can be approved. You are responsible for contacting Animal Control to schedule a date/time for this inspection.

Initial inspections for application approval is $50.00 (includes 1st year license fee). This is a non-refundable fee.

Applicants are required to contact the City of Gillette Animal Shelter to complete the application process.

Licenses are valid from July 1 (year of issue) to June 30 (following year). Renewal period is June 1 - June 30

Applicants must be 18yrs of age or older to submit an application.
Do not submit this application to renew a license.

Are you located inside the City Limits of Gillette? *
The City Animal Control Division requires a chicken coop to be installed prior to the application process and prior to the possession of any chickens on the property. If you do not have this criteria met your application may be denied

I understand that my chicken coop must have a minimum of 4 sq ft per chicken, cannot exceed a maximum size of 60 sq ft, must be less than 7ft in height, and no less than 6ft from your boundary/fence line (3ft from an alley).
