NASAC Foster Care Agreement

The foster parent/family agrees to foster the following animal/s from Nacogdoches Animal Services.

As a parent/foster family, I/we agree to the following:

I/We understand the animal is currently named in the shelter inventory system, and it is necessary for record keeping, appointments, public information, etc. to refer to the animal by this name. *

To allow a representative of Nacogdoches Animal Services (NAS) to visit my premises at any reasonable time to insure the terms of this agreement are being kept. *

The animal will be provided with adequate fresh food and water, clean, dry shelter when outside, and daily exercise. *

To obey all applicable governing control and custody of animals. *

To foster the animal as a family companion only. *

If fostering a dog, the dog is not to ride loose in the bed of pickup trucks, convertibles or to be left in a car when air temperatures exceed 70 degrees. *

If fostering a dog, the foster agrees to have a clean, secure fenced area for the dog, and agrees to keep the dog contained in that area at all times while the animal is outside. If a fenced enclosure is not available or the animal is outside the enclosure, the foster agrees to maintain direct physical control of the dog by walking on leash. *

If fostering a cat, the foster agrees to keep the cat indoors at all times, and provide a clean, safe environment for the animal.

The foster agrees to bring the animal to veterinary appointments and adoption events or allow for NAS to make arrangements for transportation to get them to the appropriate appointments/events. *

The foster understands that NAS retains legal control of the animal and is not authorized to make any legal or medical decisions on his/her behalf, including transfer of ownership to another person, rescue, or shelter. *

The foster agrees to allow potential adopters that NAS has approved to meet the foster animal at their home, at Nacogdoches Animal Services and Adoption Center, or at another reasonable location. *

The foster agrees to facilitate meetings with prospective adopters and answer questions by potential adopters. *

The Foster agrees to respond to NAS within twenty four hours concerning the animal and/or potential adopters. *

NAS makes no guarantees or statements regarding the animal's age, breed, health, or temperament. While NAS has made every effort to provide accurate history and assessment of the animal, NAS is not able to guarantee the animal's age, breed, medical status, behavior or disposition. NAS is available for consultation, advice and assistance pertaining to the health, training, and compatibility of the animal. *

All medical expenses that are approved by the NAS staff and treated through NAS approved veterinary offices will be covered by NAS. If you take our animal to your vet without prior approval, NAS will not pay the bill. *

The foster agrees to release NAS and its staff or representatives of any and all possible claims arising from injury or damage caused by the animal to any person or property. *

If you choose to adopt your foster animal, you will be required to fill out an adoption application. Upon receipt it will be processed according to NAS guidelines. *

As a foster parent/family, I/we agree to release the previous owner as well as NAS and its representatives of any liability arising from our duties as a Foster parent/family, from this date forward. *

I/We agree to abide by the foster conditions and I/We have read and fully understand that NAS may repossess this animal at any time if the foster conditions are violated or the animal is mistreated. *
