Thank you for opening your home to foster with the Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge – you can make a huge impact to a dog in need.
SCARS would be lost without our valuable foster carers, they provide an environment that enables healing and trust building along with unconditional love while waiting for their forever home. We require all kinds of foster homes, from caring for the sick and injured, puppies, to those who just don’t cope in a shelter environment and the elderly.
SCARS will be with you along the way supporting you in whatever you or your foster dog need. We provide all their veterinary care here onsite at the refuge along with access to training, food, toys, bedding etc.
Fostering dogs can be a "time and emotional commitment" - emotional as you'll go through the highs of raising puppies, providing comfort and TLC to a scared dog, to the lows of having to say goodbye when they are ready to be adopted. Letting a foster animal go is giving the best gift to someone who really needs it. When you see the child holding his first puppy, or an elderly person with pooch to keep them company, you can't be sad, because they are so happy. Is it easy? No...but it's usually fun, rewarding and enjoyable - and it is certainly always worth it.
