A. Personal behaviour - it is expected that Executive Committee members will:

Adhere to our Harassment and Bullying statement contained in all Membership and Volunteer forms by:-
- treating other members, volunteers and supporters with dignity and respect
- not harass or bully colleagues, members of the public or volunteers of PAWS-PATAS
- not discriminate against other Members or Volunteers because of their race, sex, sexuality, marital status, religion, disability or age and will behave at all times with courtesy, patience and understanding.

Assist with the well-being, safety and health of abandoned and unwanted dogs and cats in our area

Act ethically, with honesty and integrity, in the best interests of PAWS-PATAS at all times

Not make improper use of their position as an Executive Committee member to gain advantage for themselves or for any other person

Exercise due care, diligence and skill
-
Support, adhere to and not contradict the formal decisions of the Executive Committee made in its meetings
-
Make decisions fairly, impartially and promptly, considering all available information, legislation, policies and procedures

Make reasonable enquiries to remain properly informed
-
Understand the financial, strategic and other implications of decisions
-
Act in a financially responsible manner

Understand financial reports, audit reports and other financial material that comes before the Executive Committee
-
Attend a minimum of 75% of Executive Committee meetings
-
Treat colleagues with honesty and fairness, and have proper regard for their interests, rights, safety and welfare

Contribute to a harmonious, safe and productive Executive Committee environment/culture through professional workplace relationships

Executive Committee members will adhere to time scale of duties either set out in statutes or as agreed by Executive team and perform them with due diligence
-
Representatives of the Executive committee will give regular feedback on progress made by the respective represented areas

B. Communication and official information - it is expected that Executive Committee members will:

Channel all communication between Executive Committee and volunteers on business matters through the Managers of departments

Not disclose official information or documents acquired through membership of the Executive Committee, other than as required by law or where agreed by decision of the Executive Committee

Not make any unauthorised public statements regarding the business of PAWS-PATAS
-
Respect the confidentiality and privacy of all information as it pertains to individuals
-
Ensure information gained as an Executive Committee member is only applied to proper purposes

C. Conflicts of interest - it is expected that Executive Committee members will:

Disclose any personal or business interests which may give rise to actual or perceived conflicts of interest
-
Not allow personal or financial interests, or the interests of any associated person, to conflict with the interests of PAWS-PATAS

Where conflicts of interest do arise, ensure they are managed in the public interest

D. In addition, Executive Committee members commit to:

Taking responsibility for reporting improper conduct or misconduct which has been, or may be occurring in the workplace, reporting the details to the relevant people or agency
-
Taking responsibility for contributing in a constructive, courteous and positive way to enhance good governance and the reputation of the Executive Committee of PAWS-PATAS
-
Providing a minimum of 4 weeks notice in the event of a resignation, during which time the Member will work with the rest of the Committee to ensure a smooth handover of duties with minimal operational disruption.

E. Should a member of the Executive Committee believe that the behaviour of another member of the Executive Committee or other volunteer is in breach of this Code of Conduct or is otherwise unacceptable:

In the first instance said member or volunteer should be approached to allow for the opportunity to redress the grievance
-
Only if this is unsuccessful should the President be informed. The President will investigate the grievance and take appropriate action, including bringing the grievance to the Executive Committee to be considered
