Volunteer Requirements
Due to our liability insurance requirements, the process to volunteer and/or transport with us includes several steps. You will need to complete each of the following to volunteer:
- Complete this application
- Provide a copy of your driver's license
- Providing a copy of your automobile insurance showing coverage dollar amounts
- Complete online training
- Complete a Background Check
- Complete a Motor Vehicles Report Search

If you do not agree to complete the requirements to volunteer, you can't continue. We cannot accept volunteers who haven't completed the requirements for liability reasons.

Background Check Notice
For the safety of everyone involved and due to insurance requirements, we must perform a background check on all volunteers. We contract with a third party background verification company, Sterling Volunteers. HADR will be charged a minimum of $33 for each background check. Sterling Volunteers will ask you to enter your social security number along with a variety of other personally identifiable information in order to complete the background check. HADR will never have access to your social security number. You can view Sterling Volunteer's Privacy Policy to see how they protect your information. This background check will include the following searches: Social Security Number trace, Nationwide Criminal History Search, Department of Justice Sex Offender Search, Terrorist Watch List, County and State of Residence Search, and Motor Vehicle Report. Using Sterling Volunteer's service constitutes your consent and will be bound by Sterling Volunteer's policies. It takes 3-5 days for the background check to be completed. You may choose to pay for the cost of the background check to be completed in lieu of HADR paying. This is completely optional.
If you do consent to a background check, we will provide instructions on how to begin the background check process once you have completed the entire application process described above.
If you do not consent to a background check, please do not continue. Unfortunately, we won't be able to consider you for volunteer opportunities with us.

Required Documentation
Our liability insurance requires that we collect certain information from you annually:
1. A copy of your driver's license
2. A copy of the declarations page of your personal automobile insurance showing that you have at least $100,000 combined single limits (CSL) or $50,000/$100,000 split coverage limits (SCL) or higher.
The connection between you and our system is secure and encrypted (look for the lock icon next to the website address to verify). We take the appropriate steps to ensure the protection of your data and we will not sell your information. Additionally, anyone requiring access to this information has a signed Non-Disclosure Agreement and Confidentiality Agreement on file with us.
If you choose not to provide this information, unfortunately, we won't be able to consider you for volunteer opportunities with us.
