Shelter Roles Volunteer Application

We are able to offer volunteering roles to anyone from the age of 15. However, anyone who is under the age of 18 will need permission from their parents/guardians to volunteer at the Shelter. Therefore, once you have applied to volunteer at the Shelter and we have sent you the volunteer handbook we will need to see proof that your parents/guardians are happy for you to volunteer at the Shelter. They can do this by sending us an email, stating that they have also read the handbook so they know what you will be doing at the Shelter, and by signing some additional paperwork. Thank you!

Unfortunately, we are unable to accept volunteers from outside the Sheffield area

Shelter Roles

Please note, we expect our volunteers to take the role given to them seriously and expect you to be reliable, punctual, and able to work independently once instructed. We also expect a minimum of 3 months commitment from you - as this role is only one morning per week, we require our volunteers to attend each week consecutively in order to maintain the knowledge and consistency needed for the role. Consistency in care is essential to the welfare of our cats. We do have high welfare standards at the shelter and expect all of our volunteers to adhere to these standards at all times.

Other Details

Please read the following:

Please note we are a small shelter and have a specific number of vacancies for each role that we offer. This may mean we have no vacancies on the days that you are available and may be asked to be placed on a waiting list. Before you are asked to be a regular volunteer, you will need to complete a trial shift, which we will be in touch to arrange should there be a suitable slot. A successful trial day will be followed by a 4 week review period, where either yourself or The Sheffield Cats Shelter can end your time volunteering with us if either party feels it is no longer suitable for you to continue. Please note, we require you to commit to at least one shift per week for a 3 month period. Thank you for your interest in our Charity, volunteers make a huge difference to the work we do and we appreciate you taking the time to complete the application.
