Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer with SAFE Inc.

As a not for profit charitable organisation, SAFE Inc relies heavily on volunteers to achieve our mission of saving companion animals from unnecessary euthanasia through community education, fostering, desexing and rehoming.

Personal Details

Volunteer position being applied for:

SAFE Inc Volunteer Agreement

In making this volunteer application, I agree to:

  • Be a positive advocate for SAFE and SAFE’s work at all times including across all social media.
  • Carry out my duties in a safe and responsible manner, and report any unsafe practices, hazards, incidents or injuries to SAFE HQ
  • Not engage in any discussion with the media regarding SAFE without having obtained prior approval
  • Wear a SAFE volunteer badge or SAFE shirt while performing SAFE duties in public
  • Work within the guidelines, position description, agreement and policies relevant to this volunteer position
  • Communicate openly with the Branch Coordinator
  • Participate in training provided, relevant to this position
  • Comply with the volunteer code of conduct, confidentiality agreement, values and behaviours

SAFE Inc Volunteer Code of Conduct

All SAFE volunteers, including committee members, board members, coordinators and foster carers are expected to conduct themselves in a way that reflects positively on the public image, reputation and credibility of SAFE.

    SAFE volunteers will:

    • Treat SAFE colleagues with respect, courtesy, honesty and fairness
    • Treat SAFE animals with respect and compassion at all times
    • Be trustworthy and collaborative in approach
    • Respect confidentiality
    • Have a non-judgemental approach
    • Communicate effectively, within agreed timeframes
    • Be committed to SAFE principles and model
    • Support the organisation and represent SAFE's interests
    • Give feedback
    • Be accountable and accept feedback
    • Not over-extend themselves or work beyond their capability to care
    • Acknowledge and respect decisions made by the organisation
    • Address areas of conflict with appropriate branch personnel or SAFE HQ
    • Not harass or bully colleagues or members of the public
    • Support others and ask for support when needed
    • Demonstrate high standards in all aspects of their role
    • Be prepared to undertake a national police check

SAFE Inc Confidentiality Policy

All SAFE volunteers, employees and directors of SAFE Inc have an obligation to abide by this Confidentiality Policy.

For the purpose of this Policy, "confidential information" is defined as:

  • the names, details and information relating to the business and private affairs of the clients, members and volunteers of SAFE Inc;
  • matters of a technical nature, trade secrets, financial information, strategic and business plans and like information relating to the business of SAFE Inc;
  • other information which SAFE Inc informs the employee is confidential which the employee knows or ought reasonably to know that the information is confidential to SAFE Inc, or any persons with whom SAFE Inc is concerned. It excludes any information that is public knowledge.

The employee, volunteer or director:

  • may use confidential information solely for the purpose of performing their duties as an employee or Board Member of SAFE Inc;
  • must keep confidential all confidential information by not exposing that information either verbally or in printed form in any manner whatsoever; and
  • may only disclose confidential information to persons who are aware that the confidential information must be kept confidential and who have a need to know (but only to the extent that each person has a need to know).

The obligation of the employee, volunteer or director to maintain confidentiality does not extend to confidential information that the law requires to be disclosed.

At the end of the engagement with SAFE Inc, the employee/volunteer/ director must return to SAFE Inc: all confidential information in material form; those parts of all notes and other records based on or incorporating confidential information; and all copies of confidential information and notes and other records based on or incorporating confidential information in the employee’s/volunteer’s/director’s possession or control.

The obligation of confidentiality will continue after the end of their engagement in respect of all confidential information other than information forming part of the stock of general skill and knowledge.

Any employee/volunteer/ director found to be in breach of this confidentiality obligation, whilst still employed/engaged by SAFE Inc, will be disciplined and in serious instances, dismissed or where there is a breach of law, the relevant authorities will be notified.

We warrant that we will use our best endeavours to ensure your photographs are not used in any way that may be deemed adverse or defamatory to you.:

  • Saving Animals From Euthanasia Inc (SAFE) has the right to take or use photographs of me (and/or my property) and to use these in any and all media including online, and for any purpose whatsoever.
  • I release to SAFE all rights to exhibit this work in print and electronic form publicly or privately and to market copies. I waive any rights, claims or interest I may have and agree that any uses described above may be made without compensation to me.

Agreement

I have read and understand the conditions of the SAFE Inc Volunteer Agreement, SAFE Inc Volunteer Code of Conduct, SAFE Inc Confidentiality Policy and SAFE Inc Values and Behaviours required as a volunteer with SAFE Inc.

SAFE collects personal information from you in order to provide you with our services, information about our services and answer any enquiries that you may have. In certain circumstances, we may be required to collect personal information from third parties, depending on the nature of your enquiry, for example from vets.If you provide us with personal information, for example your name, address, email, phone number or other information, we will collect the information in order to assess your application for our service.

If SAFE does not collect this personal information for such purposes, then SAFE will be unable to process your enquiry or supply you with information in relation to your enquiry.

SAFE may share your information with third party service providers who assist SAFE in providing its products and services to you (such as vets, marketing service providers, IT service providers and contractors); and any other organisation covered in SAFE’s Privacy Policy.  SAFE will also be providing personal information to Local Government Authorities every quarter to ensure compliance with the Dog and Cat Act.

   

If you provide us with the personal information of others, we encourage you to inform them that you are disclosing that information to SAFE and why, that they can access that information if they wish and that SAFE does not disclose the information to third parties other than those noted above and within SAFE’s Privacy Policy.
