Adoption Assistant: Help shelter pets find their perfect home. Work with animals and potential adopters to find them a forever home. Conduct home visits and meet/greets with adopters and their animals. (Requires specialized training and management approval)

Disaster Preparedness: In the event of a disaster, volunteers would assist the staff with animals intake, transportation and care.

Enrichment Team: The Enrichment team will provide designated enrichment to the cats and dogs at the shelter. This can include walking and spending time with our shelter dogs in designated areas to provide exercise, human contact, and mental stimulation. Designated daily enrichment will be directed per supervisors. Playing and socializing cats will occur in the community space.

Fostering: Provide a loving and nurturing home for a shelter animal until they are ready to be adopted or brought into the shelter. Foster volunteers must complete a separate orientation and agree to a home visit prior to approval for fostering of shelter animals.

Fundraising: Assist with fundraising at events or other income generating opportunities. These funds help provide for the animals' basic care as well as the "extras" to make their stay with us more comfortable.

Office Work: If you don't want to work directly with the animals, we have some light office work that needs doing, such as assembling packets of information or adoption kits, folding brochures, filing, etc.

School Groups and other volunteer groups: We welcome groups to volunteer by donation of supplies, fundraising, and other opportunities. Groups of children must always be accompanied by adults.

Sewing and Crafting: Utilize items donated to the shelter to sew or craft bedding and kennel covers for our shelter animals.

I agree that I will act at all times to preserve confidentiality of all business and personal information in regards to the Animal Shelter of Sullivan County and it's staff, customers, volunteers, visitors, and animals. Volunteers, may be exposed to information which is confidential and/or privileged in nature. It is the policy of The Animal Shelter of Sullivan County that such information must be kept confidential both during and after volunteer service. Volunteers are expected to return any materials containing privileged or confidential information at the time of separation from volunteering. I understand that I shall be responsible for any direct or consequential damages resulting from any violation of this Agreement. Unauthorized disclosure of confidential or privileged information is a serious violation of this policy and will subject the person(s) who made the unauthorized disclosure to appropriate discipline, including removal/dismissal. *

I understand that I am not an authorized representative of the Animal Shelter of Sullivan County (ASoSC) and have no authorization to answer questions or provide information about the agency.

I understand and agree that if accepted as a volunteer, all services performed by me will be performed on a strictly volunteer basis, and that I will receive no compensation of any kind; that I will not be an employee of ASoSC, and that the ASoSC shall incur no liability of any nature as a result of my volunteering for the ASoSC.

I understand that public relations are in important part of volunteering with the ASoSC. I give the ASoSC permission to us and publish photographs taken of me as a volunteer for it's use in it's public relations effort.

I understand that I may come run to contact with bleach as well as various other cleaning supplies and /or animal bodily fluids and therefore my clothing could be stained, torn, or ruined.

I acknowledge that in handling animals and performing other volunteer tasks, there exists a risk of injury, including physical harm or death, and that all services performed by me will be done at my own risks.

I understand that I may be unable to adopt any pets during my first three (3) months of service except at the director's discretion.

In case of emergency, I authorize ASoSC to arrange emergency medical treatment before attempting to notify the contact listed above.

I hereby release, discharge, indemnify, and hold harmless the ASoSC, Sullivan County Government employees and representatives from all claims causes of action or demands of any nature of cause whatsoever, including costs and attorney fees, arising out of or relating to my volunteering at the ASoSC, including but not limited to animal bites, accidents, or injuries.
