Support We want to make sure you feel confident, safe, and fully supported. To do that, we have a step-by-step training process designed to prepare you for fostering. Onboarding When you hit submit on this form, you'll receive links to two online forms in your email. These forms explain the responsibilities of HSBC volunteers and the potential risks. Please complete these forms to continue onboarding as a HSBC foster. Next, you'll complete a free virtual course, Fear Free Shelters. Cat Fosters: When you send us your Fear Free Shelters certificate, we'll send you a PDF of our cat foster resources and add you to our match list. Dog Fosters: When you send us your Fear Free Shelters certificate, we'll invite you to hone your handling and training skills with our In-Kennel Training program and Dog Handling Handbook. This will help you - and us - better understand what types of dogs are a good foster match for you. Checking In We will check in with you periodically to see if you're still interested in fostering and if your availability has changed. This helps us find foster matches quickly when there is an urgent need. Matching We'll contact you (and all other foster matches) by email when we have an animal in need of foster who matches with your home. The animal will be placed with the first available matching foster home. Placement We'll provide instructions and resources when you pick up the foster animal(s) for placement in your home. We'll provide supplies to care for the foster animal(s), subject to availability.
