I agree to provide my foster animal with security, shelter, food, water and exercise (food can be supplied by the shelter) *
I will ensure worming and tick & flea treatments are kept up to date and will collect treatments from Paws as required. I will ensure desexing and vaccinations are carried out in the timeframe requested by Paws and will faciliate the pickup and drop off of the animal to vet. *
I understand if my foster animal is involved in an incident that causes injury to another animal that I need to contact the shelter immediately. If this happens outside the normal shelter hours I am to call afterhours emergency number (0488666722) for advice. I will advise the animals owner that our vet clinic will treat any injuries free of charge. If they refuse to allow our vet to treat, PAWS Darwin will not be held liable to pay any costs incurred at another vet clinic. *
I will contact Paws ASAP if my foster animal is injured or becomes ill. If medical attention is required I will book in to see the PAWS Darwin Community Vet Clinic for treatment. If it happens out of normal clinic or shelter hours I will call the afterhours emergency number (0488666722) for advice. If I arrange medical treatment without first being approved by PAWS Darwin I understand I will not be reimbursed for these expenses. *
I understand that PAWS Darwin has undertaken a temperament assessment and disclosed, to the best of their knowledge, any behavioural issues this animal displayed prior to foster (if any) and that I foster at my own risk. I release PAWS Darwin and related individuals and entities from any and all liability or damages related to person(s) and/or property caused by the animals I foster. *
I understand that PAWS Darwin pets are generally second hand, they may have existing behaviour issues that need to be resolved. I commit to ensuring that I work with PAWS Darwin and their nominated trainers to resolve any issues arising. If fostering a dog I will attend the free training classes provided by Paws at least once a month. I understand that Puppys can attend PAWS Darwin puppyschools after they have had one vaccination and have passed quarantine. I will commit to attending at least one four week session with each puppy. If other problems arise that I can not go to classes to resolve I will contact the PAWS Darwin team to ask for support. *
I will notify Paws of any health or behaviour issues which come to my attention so we can update our records and ensure we find the best possible match for the animal i will attend at least one behaviour class per month for adult dogs *
I agree that should i move or plan to move from my registered address i will notify PAWS Darwin before moving, and update my details *
I agree to notify PAWS Darwin if i intend to pass care of my foster to another person and i will ensure that any person taking over care of my foster will also be a registered carer with PAWS Darwin. *
I will notify Paws ASAP should my foster animal become lost or missing. I will search for the animal including contacting local vets, council and sharing on FB pages and keep Paws updated *
I will ensure my foster animal is wearing a Paws Darwin Foster collar at ALL times *
If I am fostering a cat I will not let them outside without a leash *
I will provide Paws with photos and personality information on my foster animal within 48 hours of taking home and then weekly updates for the first month. After this if I still have the animal I will provide updates at least monthly. * If the dog is a puppy and growing we will ask for more regular updates for the first 12 weeks
If I am fostering a dog I will not let them off lead in public during its time in foster *
I commit to contact potential adopters within 48 hours of receiving a request and make a time for them to conduct a meet & greet. I will be honest in my conversations with them about the animal, assess suitability and inform PAWS Darwin if I have any concerns about adoptions *
I will attend any events that PAWS Darwin hold to ensure that my foster pet gets the best chance at finding a new Home *
If I decide to keep my foster animal (foster fail) I will advise PAWS Darwin as soon as possible by submitting an adoption application so they can remove them from the adoption list. I will finalise the adoption in full within 2 working days of emailed adoption approval. If I have not notified PAWS Darwin of my decision and someone wishes to meet my foster I will contact the person and PAWS Darwin within 24 hours to advise of my decision. I understand I will not be entitled to a discount no matter how long I have been fostering or what "costs" I may have incurred *
I will ensure the animal is not handed over to any other person not authorised by PAWS Darwin. I will ensure all paperwork/payment is completed to the satisfaction of PAWS Darwin before handing the animal over to a new foster or adoptive family *
I will allow Paws to repossess the animal if, in their opinion, the terms of this agreement are not being reasonably adhered to. *
I will pay any fines or costs incurred if I breach the terms of this agreement *
I can certify that the answers in this application are complete, true and not misleading in any way. I am authorizing you to contact landlords, associations and veterinarians as required to validate or to conduct a home assessment. *
