Single/lemon and white female, looking for friendship, possibly more. I enjoy long walks around the block, rope bones, and corn-free meals. I am also a big fan of bellyrubs and spending time with my foster family. I am house-trained and will run to the door when I need to step outside. I do well other dogs and children, although it takes me a little while to warm up to a new environment (I love to be the center of attention). I have no problem voicing my opinion, and I make an excellent watch dog and protector of my home (just don't expect me to stop the thief). It makes me sad to see my foster parents leave for work, but I am always thrilled when they return. If you could find a place for me in your heart, I will provide you with many years of unconditional love and slobber. Interested?
I'm a sweet energetic eager-to-please boy! I love pig hooves, fetch, walking, running, and lots of play! I am great with kids and other dogs. I am very small compared to other basset hounds, but I might fill out with time. I would do best in an active home preferably with other dogs, kids, or both! I am crate trained and would thrive in a home that would maintain this practice. (If left uncrated when alone, I will make up games to play with all your stuff! I?m creative that way!) I am full of love and would be a great addition to any active family! Can I enjoy my second puppyhood with you?
My foster mom thinks I'm just "PERFECT" and that nothing else needs to be said! But, to give a better idea of my personality, let me explain. I'm very sweet, snuggly and handsome! A very fine basset boy. I never have accidents in the house. I like cats, other dogs, and people. I especially like the people who want to snuggle me! I'm very well mannered and not excessively hyper. Perhaps my foster mom is right? I'm a "PERFECT" basset boy.
Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens...no, no, no. That's not right! MY favorite things are children, walkies, other dogs, cats, shoes, and baskets (they make good chew toys, right?) I also like snuggles, rides in the car, counter-cruising, "puppy laser tag," and people (men, especially.) I'm an energetic but relatively well-behaved puppy. I walk well on leash, sit on command (most of the time—I AM a basset after all) and never potty in the house. I think I would like a forever home that had a playmate for me, either another dog or a kid or both.
Thank you to my virtual foster, Auntie Cheryl!
Tank, that's right. They call me Tank. You got a problem with that? Didn't think so! Ha! Just funnin' with ya! You can call me whatever you think suits me after you get to know me better. I'll probably go along with it. Okay, okay, you got me. A few treats and you can call me Bubba if you want! (Sorry buddy.) He he he! I'm teasin' my friend Bubba. We survived a rough time together and our foster family has us doing grrrrreat! I'm a little more on the quieter side of life, kind of the laid-back, pipe-smokin' scholarly type. Can't you just see me in the corner of a Jazz club in my tweed blazer and hat, gettin' my cool groove on? Catalina Island, baby, yeah! I'm a lover, not a fighter. I'll do best as the lone dog in the family. Not to say that I can't hang with other pooches, I can. I'll play with 'em too, but just for awhile. If it gets too crazy I'll get tickets and watch from the cheap seats.
I do like to be with people though and will follow you around the house hoping you'll settle somewhere so I can give you hugs and kisses and snuggle up to you. I've got mad snuggle skills and I'll whip 'em out as often as I can. I travel well and have learned to use the out-door facilities via pet door no problemo. I like to take walks and may need a little more leash training but do pretty well already. So, if you are looking for a companion of the more sophisticated type, go to Yale. But if you want a mellow pal that may just beat you at the Monday crosswords (hey, I'm still a hound you know), I'm your boy. Oh, by the way, I really am 4 years old. I may look a bit older because I lost a lot of my hair from malnutrition. But, it is growing back.
I was a very lost young lady until rescue found me. I am a really good dog. I know how to behave with other dogs and I can get any dog to love me. I can also get people to love me because I'm sweet and cuddly. I have beautiful markings and really long ears. I also had a run-in with the Freckle Fairy! I still have lots to learn but I'm a quick study learning more and more every day. Right now, I live in a foster home with lots of older bassets. It?s kind of boring because I really love to play. Rolling in the snow is one of my favorite things! My foster home also has cats, which I can take or leave, and a doggie door that is really handy when I need to go out! I'm a very good girl just looking for a very good forever home to love me back! (P.S. Don't let my picture scare you! I was just annoyed to have to stop playing!)
Wow! Are you looking for an easy keeper? Blu will take the job! He loves nothing more than snuggling on the couch and getting bellyrubs! He's not a huge fan of young children, but not many older dogs are, either. He's slowly discovering the dog toys and while it took him some time to come out of his shell, Blu now happily romps a bit with his foster brothers. Blu also enjoys a good car ride! If you are looking for that stereotypical hound, Blu is your boy!
Helloooooo there! I'm Bubba. I consider myself one lucky hound dog. For a while there, I was afraid it was all over for me and a pal hound named Tank. (You may have heard of him on this great site.) Well, thanks to my foster family, I'm happy, healthy, and ready to meet my new family. I have a fun-loving disposition and I get along with everyone that's happened to come my way so far. I have a blast with other dogs, people, and kids and, well, I just plain enjoy life. I don't complain about much. When you've had a rough spell like me, it teaches you a thing or two. I'm doggie door trained and do pretty well on a leash. Oh! Guess what!?! I LOVE to travel! I'm very good in a car, truck, whatever. Give me a spot I can call mine during the trip and most of the time you'll forget I'm along for the ride. I'm just enjoying the scenery; well, for awhile I am, then it's snooooozeville baby! Something about the ride just rocks me to sleep. I like it a lot; gives me some sweet dream time. I'm a great snuggle pup, too. Start the movie, get comfy, and I'll come right over and hang out with you. Ahhhh, that's the life. So, come get me. As you can already tell, your family will love me. And, I will certainly love all of you.
Now that I have my health issues addressed, I feel like a million bucks and am ready for my new forever home. I can eat again! Real food! I'm also learning about fun treats. My foster home has lots of other bassets and a couple of cats, too. So far, I just love everyone. I don't always want to share everything but I'm getting used to having enough, so that is going away. One of my favorite things is a good bone to chew on and if I can do that and lay really close to my foster mom, I'm in heaven. I'm just learning the doggie door, which is a switch from asking to go out. And, I'll really be glad when this snow goes away and we have grass to roll in. Come take a look at me? I'm a very sweet basset boy that has lot of love to share.
When you see Tucker, you will immediately notice his huge ears, his huge feet, and his beautiful markings. What you won't see is his huge love. He is one big lover! He loves cats, dogs, and people. He's just the biggest softest lover-dog you'll ever want to meet. He is good to use the doggie door and has not had any accidents. He just needs someone to be the recipient of all that love that he has to give. If you're in the market for a basset lover boy, Tucker is the best you can do.
Oliver is a happy-go-lucky basset. He is a loving dog and enjoys being around people and animals. He loves walks, car rides, and especially belly rubs! Oliver loves to play, snuggle, and of course, will give "loves" in return! He's dog-door trained and is a very quick to understand obedience commands. Oliver has learned the to sit, lay and stay. Oliver would be ideal in a home where there are other dogs and/or children. He has much love and happiness to give a new forever home!
Thanks to Oliver's Virtual Foster...Auntie Cheryl!
Greetings! Fiona here. Yes, I am a princess, thank you very much! I love being with my subjects as much as possible. Call me a people princess. I crave human company for my comfort whilst I sleep which is why I prefer to sleep on the bed with you. However, I am also trained to sleep in my own cozy bed if you wish me to do so. I'm very quiet and will neither bother nor stir until it's time to arise, at which time you'll receive a proper royal morning greeting. A girl's gotta get some body action in to get a good tail wag goin' ya know! I have a demure disposition but am also very playful. And, who can resist this "cute as bug's ear" little face? If I were looking for a cuddly companion, I'd pick, hmmm...why, me, of course! I am tidy, use the outside facilities via doggie-door portal with no issue, and have been vet inspected and certified! I get along fine with other doggie types, as I am now almost four years young and have learned my social skills. So, dear future family of a princess, I urge you to take another look at my fair visage, how could you not adopt me! I look forward to meeting you, as I am sure the pleasure will be all yours. Okay, okay, I'll be really happy, too; you'll see!
Snips and snails, puppy dog tails; that is what Starsky is made of! He has an endless supply of puppy kisses and awesome snuggle skills. This long-eared boy loves kids and other dogs. He's a curious boy but still has plenty of time for naps. He is crate trained and is making progress on housetraining, also. A sweeter pup you'll never meet. Take him home and you?ll see just how much love he has to give!
Hi, my name is Paco—I'm a young, sweet little boy that loves a good belly rub and chew toy! I enjoy a good meal, I love to play, and I'm learning how to behave on a leash. I'm working on kennel training as well as some basic commands: sit, stay, off and lie down. I'm also housetrained—but you have to watch for my signs or I may have an accident, as my foster home doesn't have a doggie door. But, once you open the door and let me know what to do, I'm all over it! I love to cuddle up with someone and give kisses. I really love to lie under my foster mom's feet. I love children and other dogs, especially when they play with me! I'm eager to please and warm up to everyone quickly. What I'm really looking for is a permanent home to call my own. Let me melt your heart and win you over!
Hello! I'm very pleased to meet you! My name is Lola Marie and I am the sweetest basset you will ever meet. I know my name and I always come when you call me; I don't get stubborn like some of those "other" bassets do. I know how to use a doggy door and I take myself outside to do my business; but I love to go outside with you and play, too! I'm crate-trained and willingly go in my crate every night to sleep. I don't even mind sharing my crate with another dog if the crate is big enough! I get along well with other dogs, I LOVE children, and I'm mildly interested in cats (remember, I always stop what I'm doing and come back when you call me). Some of my favorite things to do are—give kisses, sit right next to you, give kisses, go for walks, give kisses, play with other dogs, and (did I mention?) give kisses. If you will just give me a chance, I'm sure you will agree that I'm the perfect dog for you!
Hi, I am Naomi, but my foster family calls me "Sugar" since I am as sweet as bassets come. I am a beautiful red and white gal with a wonderful temperament. My fur is the softest my foster mom has ever felt on a basset hound. I am great with children and dogs of every age! I am housetrained, crate-trained, and only four years old. I love to play, go for walks, and take car rides. I am an easy-keeper! I would be a wonderful addition to any home. All I need is my daily quota of hugs and a warm soft place to snooze and I am content!
Thank you to my virtual foster...Auntie Natasha!"
Hi! Don't let my name fool you—there's nothing "droopy" about me! I am a handsome boy who can meet all your doggy needs. I love to play with children and other dogs; "tug" and "keep away" are two of my favorite games. However, when playtime is over, I am delighted to lay on the floor right next to you and watch television. I work hard at keeping my foster home safe; I make sure to let my foster mom and dad know when new people come to the door. But, I always quiet down when I'm told everything is "cool." I like to go for rides in the car and I get very excited when it is time to go for a walk around the neighborhood. I sleep in my crate at night and am generally very good about using the doggy door to go outside. Bottom line—one look in my golden eyes and you'll know, I'm the dog for you!
Bandit would like a family that would give him attention. He has spent most of his life so far in a backyard alone. He understands how to use the doggie door; he plays with the other dogs, both old and young; and is only somewhat interested in cats. Bandit likes attention from people but isn't pushy about it. He has a very cute cowlick on the top of his head that makes a perfect "kissing spot!" Bandit is playful and fun but gentle and loving at the same time. He needs a forever home that wants to spend time with him, because he wants to spend time with you.

Great! That pretty much sums up my days! I'm young, only a little over a year old—happy, healthy and just about the most perfect specimen of a young lady tri-color basset you ever laid eyes on! Okay, modest I'm not! But hey, when ya' got it...I'm not quite sure why my original owner gave me up since I must have cost them a pretty penny. I love to play with toys and sometimes stuff I'm not supposed to. Sorry! Can't help it, I'm still a pup and need some attention and excitement in my life. Come on! You could use the exercise too—admit it! We can lie around later! My playtimes don't have to last very long though before I'm totally up for relaxing snuggles and yes, those belly rubs we Bassets are famous for. I'll give you lots of snooter kisses, as I'm not much of a face licker. I think those smart Eskimos are on to something! I would do very well with one other canine pal to play with or a family that has time to give me some loving attention. I have good eating habits, quality dry munchies are all I need, and I use a doggie door, as a lady should. Of course, walks are the best! Take another look at my dog show quality face—smitten yet? I thought so! You are now under my spell! You will be coming to see me very, very soon!
After much consideration, I have decided to share Rowdy's personality. As his Foster Mom, this has taken a long time because Rowdy is a favorite and I wasn't sure I wanted to give him up. But in all fairness to him, I think he would be happier in a home as an only dog or with only one other dog buddy. He really doesn't particularly care about cats; he can take them or leave them. Rowdy is a great lap dog—one of the best ever! He loves to cuddle and makes a great sleeping partner. He would prefer a little quieter household than where he lives now. He plays well alone and frankly, would rather have his toys to himself! He's friendly with other dogs—he just prefers not to be crowded. All in all, Rowdy is a very laid back and affectionate boy who would like a lot of laid back love in return.
I'm a long lean jumping bean! I'm full of energy and in huge DIRE need of love and attention. I can jump better than most bassets and have demonstrated my escape talents on several occasions for my foster mom. Lucky for her (and me), the front yard is fenced! I really need a family that is willing to work with me. I know my name and readily come for attention. As I was a stray, other training is a bit lacking. The command "off" is just not in my vocabulary yet but we are working on it. Walking on a leash needs work too, as does sit, stay and down. But, I'm very intelligent and I will learn quickly if someone will just take me home and love me.
Did you notice that I have a little something extra to go with my adorable cuteness? Yep! I'm just covered in freckles and they distinguish me from the other Lucy's in rescue! I'm smart and I know my name. I use the doggie door sometimes, but I don't really know yet how to tell you that I want out. I'm a little food protective, but I'm learning that there is plenty to go around here and that I don't have to worry. I want all the attention, all the time—day and night. I have some abandonment issues. I would love to go to obedience school and even now, I am working on a few of the basics. I'm so eager, I just can't sit for very long—nano-seconds, actually—I just need to be first! If I could be first with you, I'd learn really fast, and you'd be really proud of me, and we could go for walks, and I could take long naps on your lap, and we could just hang-out together, and I could be first forever with you!
Hey, Auggie/Teddy here. Yup, I do kinda look like a big smooshy teddy bear, which is why I'm now called Teddy! You can even call me Ted, if ya? like. I'm a 7-year young good-ole boy who loves hangin' out and being around family. I'll play around with other dog and human critters, but just enough to get a little workout and then it's to the deck for a beverage and a lounge-about...Yeah, I'm all about the loungin'. Hey, I figure the world's a stressful enough place. One needs to take the opportunities as they present themselves. I may look slow but I ain't crazy! I'm not much of a barker, just a bit to say "hello" when you get home and to alert you if some uninvited creatures decide to show up around my current part of this earth's real estate, if ya' knows what I mean? Bad habits? Na, not really. I'm a bit of a sloppy drinker but I never drive afterwards&mdashI'm proud of that. I always take care of business outdoors. If you have a doggie door, I'm all set, no worries! I read the book, "Everybody Poops," and I know where to do it! I do have a minor issue—well, it's not exactly an issue...I was born with only one aye matey! I mean eye! Doesn't slow me down a bit. I actually have the advantage of sleeping on my one eye and enjoying complete darkness for a totally restful snooze! See, (hey, I heard that) there's advantages to what some may perceive as a handicap. I'm a good companion, especially if you are a quieter type of family or have older kids. I can be trusted alone during the day if you need to work. I'll keep an eye on things for ya! (Heehee! I crack me up sometimes!) One last thing about me before I go, I love to be vacuumed. I'll follow you around while you're vacuuming just to get you to run that hose down my back a couple of times. Alrighty, enough about me—come take me home and tell me all about you. I'm sure we'll get along just fine!
Hi, I'm Roscoe and I am a happy boy now that my medical condition is under control. I have Addison's disease. If you are not familiar with Addison's, it is (very simply) a disease that affects how well I can handle stress. It also requires special vet care. I am crate-trained, housetrained, and a very well mannered boy. Two of my favorite hobbies are resting lots and EATING! My foster mom says I am a very lovable boy! It would not be a stretch to call me a "Velcro Basset," too, as I love to stay nearby my foster family all day long and worry when they are out of sight.
Thank you to my Virtual Foster...Auntie Sarah!
Toby is a wonderfully well-behaved baby boy. He's curious, intelligent, friendly, playful, gentle, loving, and mischievous. Even through his body is a bit bigger than you would think of for puppy; he really is just a baby. He loves to chew, but so far, as long as he has appropriate toys, he's happy with those. Toby likes to go outside and uses the doggie dog without hesitation. He has very little interest in cats. He walks pretty well on a leash but could use some fine-tuning. With a gentle loving hand, Toby will grow into a handsome, well-mannered companion of which anyone would be proud.
More information coming soon!
I like very much to have your attention. My belly always needs rubbing and I'm willing to lay very still for a very long time if you'll oblige. I like to play, play, play either with other dogs or by myself and I'm usually very quiet about it. I'm not totally dependable with the doggie door just yet, but I'm working on it. I just sometimes have to be reminded because I don't want to go out alone. I have a very bassety small built and one blue eye that makes me unique. I'm very gentle and soft and would like that same kind of family to call my own. Come take a look and witness just how sweet I am!
I love playing with other dogs! I'm a little shy at first, but as soon as I get to know you I am just fine. I'm very fond of my quality "lap time" and would prefer to just stay there forever, if you let me. I use the doggie door to go outside and do my business and I like to snoop around the yard while I'm there. I rarely make much noise, but if something needs my attention, I give a little bark. I do make a little whiney noise when I need your attention. I could really use someone who wants to go for walks, since I tend to be a little on the plump side. I'm a very sweet girl just waiting to please my new forever family.
